A spacious place. I don\u2019t know exactly what that means, but\nI love the sound of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What pictures come to mind when you hear the word spacious<\/em>? I\u2019m thinking of a wide place.\nAbundance. Sunshine. Joy. A place where we enjoy God\u2019s favor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When the Lord first appeared to Moses in that flaming bush,\ncalling him to an amazing mission\u2014leading the Israelite people out of bondage\nin Egypt\u2014he used this word to describe the land he intended to give them: \u201ca\ngood and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey\u201d (Exodus 3:8). The\nAmplified Bible uses the word large<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nehemiah called this a \u201cspacious and fertile land\u201d (Nehemiah\n9:35). <\/p>\n\n\n\n David personalized the thought, including these words in a song\nhe sang to the Lord after being delivered from Saul: \u201cHe brought me out into a\nspacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me\u201d (2 Samuel 22:20). Psalm 18:19 repeats this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Psalm 31:7-8 David said, \u201cI will be glad and rejoice in\nyour love, for you saw my afflictions and knew the anguish of my soul. You have\nnot handed me over to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m happy to tell you I\u2019ve spent time in that sweet place. Drenched\nin blessing. Bathed in the sunshine of God\u2019s love. Oh, to live there\ncontinually! But that place is a gateway to other paths. Paths the Lord designs\u2026offering\nopportunity to dispense the blessings stored up in my spacious place\u2026to tell\nothers how to find it and assure them their present hard place is temporary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The spacious place is like R&R for the military. We\nhave an enemy who intends to destroy us. Our Commander-in-Chief will not let\nthat happen. He faced other\nchallenges\u2026sometimes overwhelming circumstances. But he was not forsaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Are you basking in sunshine in a spacious place or slugging\nit out with the enemy in the trenches?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Know that God is with you. And he will use every experience\nfor his maximum glory.
