\u201cAs ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving\u201d (Colossians 2:6-7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s a high standard. My first thought: impossible! But let\u2019s think about this. How did Jesus walk?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He walked in love, in compassion, in patience, in forgiveness. He walked in expectation. He walked full of faith, totally dependent on his Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Don\u2019t let that word faith<\/em> slow you down because you feel yours is inadequate. We try to measure faith, saying \u201cHe has huge faith\u201d or \u201cmy faith is so small.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have a simple definition of faith: believing God. Is that something we can measure? I\u2019ve never heard anyone say, \u201cHe believes God a lot\u201d or \u201cI just believe God a little.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Faith is an either\/or thing. Either we believe God or we don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFaith is an either\/or thing. Plans that I thought came from God just don\u2019t seem to be working out. I battle weariness. Thoughts of giving up race around in my mind. You know what I\u2019m talking about, don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Are you tired of jumping hurdles and pushing past obstacles that seem to impede every step? Here\u2019s an idea. Walk as Jesus walked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As we follow him through the Gospels, he never seems to hurry. He\u2019s never in a panic. He doesn\u2019t appear distracted from the moment. In fact, he\u2019s very much in the moment, taking care of immediate issues\u2014healing the blind, the lame, the deaf, the demon-possessed. Oh, yes\u2026and raising the dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We never see Jesus at the end of the day looking over his to-do list, disgruntled that he couldn\u2019t check off every item and lamenting all the interruptions that rearranged his schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The picture I see is Jesus calmly taking life one moment at a time, valuing the people in his presence, meeting their needs, and leaving them better than he found them.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe picture I see is Jesus calmly taking life one moment at a time, valuing the people in his presence, meeting their needs, and leaving them better than he found them. <\/a><\/span>Click To Tweet<\/a><\/span>\n\n\n\n If he were to encounter me at some point during my day, he likely would say, \u201cWoman, slow down. Focus. There is plenty of time to do the Father\u2019s will.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n I don\u2019t expect to see Jesus in the flesh today, but I can hear him in my heart saying those words. And that\u2019s what I\u2019m going to do. Slow down. Focus. Busy myself doing the Father\u2019s will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lord Jesus, teach me how to walk as you walked\u2014in love, in compassion, in patience, in forgiveness, in expectation and full of faith, totally dependent on my Father.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNow unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us\u201d (Ephesians 3:20).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Living the maximum life!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Are you struggling today with a bulging to-do list?
