God’s strong arm is renowned.
Listen to the song of Moses and the Israelites after seeing the Lord fight for them—leading this massive throng across the Red Sea on dry ground before releasing the banks of water to drown the pursuing Egyptian army.
“I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider or its chariot has He thrown into the sea. The Lord is my Strength and my Song, and He has become my Salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him…
“Your right hand, O Lord, is glorious in power; Your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy. In the greatness of Your majesty, You overthrow those rising against You. You send forth Your fury; it consumes them like stubble…You stretched out Your right hand, the earth’s [sea] swallowed them. You in Your mercy and loving-kindness have led forth the people whom You have redeemed. You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation.
“The peoples have heard of it; they tremble; pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. Now the chiefs of Edom are dismayed; the mighty men of Moab [renowned for strength], trembling takes hold of them; all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away—little by little. Terror and dread fall upon them; because of the greatness of Your arm they are as still as a stone—till Your people pass by and over [into Canaan], O Lord, till the people pass by whom You have purchased. You will bring them in [to the land] and plant them on Your own mountain, the place, O Lord, You have made for Your dwelling, the sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established” (see Exodus 15 Amplified).
God’s strong arm still wields power. If you need a refresher course to renew your confidence, do a word study. Suggestions: God’s strong arm, outstretched arm, right hand, mighty hand. Take your time with this study. Put yourself in the scene and imagine your response.
This study will bring you to Psalm 138. Highlight verses 7 and 8. “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me. The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, endure forever—forsake not the works of Your own hands.”

In Deuteronomy 7 Moses prepared the people to face nations greater in power. “You shall not be afraid of them, but remember [earnestly] what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt. The great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out. So shall the Lord your God do to all the people of whom you are afraid. Moreover, the Lord your God will send the hornet among them until those who are left and hide themselves from you are destroyed. You shall not dread them, for the Lord your God is among you, a mighty and terrible God. And the Lord your God will clear out those nations before you little by little…”
Now there’s a unique strategy! God will send hornets if he has to!
God’s strong arm is outstretched, offering all the power of his mighty hand to fight for us today—and we can rest.

Please tell me how the Lord has shown up and intervened in your life with a mighty hand. And I’d be grateful if you’d share this with your friends!

I can tell you how the Lord recently intervened in our lives with a strong arm and mighty hand, which I just shared this morning with a dear friend. I told her I had to share with her what God has done for us. Interestingly, the pastor this Sunday talked about how we expect God to give to us OUT of His riches. But the Scripture says God gives ACCORDING to His riches. He said it’s like asking for a golf club, but God then gives us the whole golf course. My husband was in the hospital, and in ICU recently, and we have been praying that the hospital will accept what we can pay each month, and that God will supply our needs. But – someone actually paid our entire hospital bill!!! We were stunned and in tears. Then my husband asked why we were surprised that God answered our prayers beyond what we could even imagine! Ephesians 3:20 says “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.” I know that when we pray, we shouldn’t be surprised when God answers beyond what we ask or even think! I just expected that He would help us get through each month! He is so much more than I can even fathom!
Becky, your story is such a blessing and a great illustration of how God’s strong arm is able to fight for us and do “abundantly beyond” what we ask or expect. Thank you so much for sharing your heart. God delights in pouring out his favor on us, and I know our praise pleases him. How encouraging to know he is always working on our behalf. “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving” (Psalm 69:30).
